I live in Mid-America: love gardening, outdoor activities, yoga, movies, hiking, books and travel. My spiritual quest from early childhood was to know and experience God. (Academic studies at Cornell, College of Wooster, University of Vienna, Columbia, and Union Theological Seminary, NYC).
I grew up during the Great Depression and WWII, which formed my "age of anxiety". Today, life seems very similar to that period of World Wars, debt, recession, homelessness, foreign wars and public hysteria. Yet through those disturbing times, I sought an ethic and spiritual path which would last for all times. In the end, I realized that I am a child of God and that, through my Heavenly Father, God's grace would prevail. In my Sacred Haiku, there is a powerful affirmation of Self and God's love. I know that in your life, you can experience the richness of God's love and the prosperity of your work and activities. |

Remembering Merton
Fr. Matthew Kelty remembers Thomas Merton
I am so grateful for this insight on Merton who I dearly love as the sometimes tormented soul he was. I hope he is now in the presence of peace and timelessness. I am equally grateful to see Fr. Kelty and listen to his voice reading these memories. I had the privilege of sitting in that chapel listening to him read poetry and telling stories. May he rest in the peace that surpasses all understanding! God bless departed and beautiful Godly soldiers of our faith.
(Postmark: not my words but my sentiments - I to also sat in this Chapel at Gethsemane and listened to Fr. Matthew reading his poetry and sharing his faith)
