Japan: One year after disaster
The people of Japan today mark the first anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that killed nearly 20,000 and triggered the Fukushima nuclear meltdown. Correspondent Bill Whitaker visits some of those who continue to deal with the loss and devastation.
Detachment from things does not mean setting
up a contradiction between "things" and "God" as if God
were another "thing" and as if His creatures were His rivals. We do
not detach ourselves from things in order to attach ourselves to God, but
rather we become detached from ourselves in order to see and use all things in
and for God. This is an entirely new perspective which many sincerely moral and
ascetic minds fail utterly to see.

"Today, Sendai airport, which was hit by Tsunami and forced to close was recovered and the airport will accept airplanes to send rescue teams, foods, cloths, medications, and all things victims need to them. This recovery was very important for us for faster and smooth operation. It was very hard to clean by so many debries.
Does anyone can guess who did this big task for the Japanese people? I am so sure your guess is right. It's American rescue team. President Obama sent ships, his/your men and women, and also officers stationed in Japan as rescue team. Japan still has none stop earthquakes and possibility of Tsunami. Your greatest gift was working so hard for my people under such high risks. I told you on FB, I know you care. Now, you really know why I know that. I strongly believe this is the most amazing story because I can tell my little girl that when her japanese family needed help, her american family was right there. Isn't this amazing?"

"With
our hearts purged of all hate, let us worship the Eternal. Our God is the Lord
of prayer; he hears the cry of his children. Let all men submit their wills to
him, the Resolute. Let us delight in the liberality of the Lord of prayer. Make
prayer your inmost friend and worship your soul's support. `If you will but
worship me in love,' says the Eternal, `I will give you the wisdom to attain
me, for my worship is the virtue common to all creatures.' God is the
illuminator of the gloomy and the power of those who are faint. Since God is
our strong friend, we have no more fear.”

Prayers
for Japan
"Thousands of wooden prayer tablets, ema, hang outside Meiji Jingu, a Shinto shrine. Japanese are not normally religious, but during times of crisis they often revert back to traditional beliefs. Prayers for disaster victims and the nuclear crisis are written and hung around a divine tree. In a special ceremony, Shinto priests burn the prayers as an offering."

"The
fullness of joy is to behold God in everything.
God is the ground, the substance,
the teaching, the teacher,
the purpose, and the reward for which every soul labors."
"If there is anywhere on earth a lover of God who is always kept safe, I know nothing of it, for it was not shown to me. But this was shown: that in falling and rising again we are always kept in that same precious love."
